Spring Cleaning for Self-Care

Share:

As nature begins to bloom into a vibrant tapestry of colors, it’s the perfect time for us to embark on our own journey of transformation and renewal. Spring isn’t just about tidying up your closet or deep cleaning your kitchen cupboards; it’s an opportunity to refresh our lifestyles and revitalize our self-care routines. Just as we declutter physical spaces, we can declutter our minds and habits to invite in a sense of freshness and vitality.

Let’s breakdown some ways to spring clean for your self-care in order to prepare for a rejuvenating and fulfilling season ahead!

Assess Your Habits

A great way to kick off your self-care cleaning without feeling overwhelmed? Start by taking inventory of your daily routines and habits. Are there any that no longer serve you or contribute positively to your wellbeing? Whether it’s excessive screen time, nutrition lacking eating habits or minimal movement, identify those areas where you might be able to make improvements. From there, you can start to zero in on what new habits you want to install and make a routine out of!

Declutter Your Environment

A cluttered space can lead to a cluttered mind and lifestyle. Dedicate some time to decluttering and organizing your living and workspaces. Donate or discard items you no longer need in an effort to create a more serene and inviting environment. Another often overlooked place that is likely begging for a refresh? Your supplement supply! Take inventory of what vitamins and minerals you’ve been packing away in your cupboard and get real about what you want to continue taking and what you can do without. It’s easy to overstock your cabinet with supplements that really no longer serve you, so listen to your body with this process.

Get Mindful

Spring is an excellent time to reconnect with yourself and practice mindfulness. Set aside a few minutes each day for meditation, deep breathing exercises, or simply being present in the moment. Mindfulness can help reduce stress, increase self-awareness, and enhance overall well-being. And if you’re interested in exploring hypnosis meditation as well, check out Shaep’s upcoming 6 week challenge that features expert Stephanie Valentine to guide you through this powerful practice!

Rethink Your Recipes

Just like you cleaned out your supplements, now’s time to clean out your recipe repertoire. Scroll through your saved recipes or flip through your printed ones and really evaluate which ones are aligned with your nutrition goals at this time. You want to find focus on nourishing your body with wholesome foods that fuel your energy and vitality. Incorporate more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins into your diet. Hydrate with plenty of water and herbal teas to support detoxification and hydration! (Psst… Shaep’s upcoming challenge comes with a brand new meal plan and recipes too!)

Move Your Body

Tired of the treadmill? Shake off the winter blues by getting your steps in outdoors. Take advantage of the longer daylight hours and warmer temperatures to go for walks, bike rides, or hikes in nature. This form of self-care is always fun to fine tune and adjust in ways that will help to create transformation while enjoying yourself. So try taking up activities that bring you joy and invigorate your body, whether it’s yoga, dancing, or playing sports!

Catch Your Zzz’s

Even though short, dark days are behind us, it’s still important to chase a proper sleep schedule during the long, sunny days. Adequate sleep is essential for physical, mental, and emotional well being, especially when it comes to self-care. By establishing a relaxing bedtime routine (is magnesium your BFF yet?) and aiming for seven to eight hours of quality sleep each night you’re already prioritizting real rest.

Be Intentional

As you embark on this journey of renewal and transformation, first and foremost, good for you! It’s not easy to hone in on your self-care habits and accept what needs tidying. Next, now’s the time to set intentions for how you want to feel and what you want to cultivate in your life. Whether it’s more joy, balance, or creativity, let your intentions guide your actions and decisions moving forward. By crossing off that self-care Spring cleaning list, you’ll see a whole new land of intentions laid out in front of you. Now comes the fun part!

Spring is a season of growth, renewal, and transformation. By Spring cleaning your self-care routine, you’re well on your way to creating a fresh slate for new opportunities, experiences, and personal growth. Embrace this season of renewal with open arms and embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Here’s to a vibrant and fulfilling Spring ahead!
